How do you do your hair when going to a barber/salon?

Like do you comb it a certain way or something? Everytime I go to supercuts she's always like comb your hair when coming. The thing is I do my hair using sculping mud and leave it kinda messy, i dont comb it! So How exactly should I do my hair before going to the salon?How do you do your hair when going to a barber/salon?
